With fantastic views of City Creek Canyon, Twin Peaks, and Salt Lake Valley, this route is an excellent quick hike or run with your dog. You’ll start on the Meadow Trail and follow a series of switchbacks along the Avenues Ridge Trail. Once at the top, the route flattens along the Avenues Ridge Cutoff Trail. Return to the Meadow Trail via the Valleyview Trail to complete the lollipop loop.

Getting there

The start of this route is at the Bonneville Shoreline 18th Avenue Trailhead (technically located at the end of Hilltop Rd).

To reach it from downtown, head north on 200 W and turn right onto W North Temple St. Keep east along 2nd Avenue and turn left onto B St. E. Turn right onto 11th Avenue. Turn left onto I St and then right onto Northcrest Dr. Turn left onto N Hilltop Rd. and then right onto 18th Avenue. Finally, turn left onto Hilltop Rd and drive to the end of the road, where you’ll find a small parking lot at the trailhead.

The trailhead
Sign at the 18th Avenue Trailhead.
